Northern Pride in partnership with Mosaic and Newcastle University present a special book reading:‘Tell it to the Bees’  By Fiona Shaw

This wonderful novel tells the story of a powerful love affair that develops between two women at a time when such relationships caused outrage.  ‘Tell it to the Bees’ has been described as ‘emotionally charged and compelling’; as ‘a memorable evocation of an era when homosexuality was a crime and abortion illegal’ and ‘a page-turning, involving read that makes you ask big questions about the world and its prejudices. Liberating and uplifting’.

Fiona Shaw, author of ‘Tell it to the Bees’ will be at Newcastle University on Saturday 28th April at 2.00 pm. Fiona will be talking about and reading from her novel as well as explaining how she came to write it in the first place.

Fiona will be joined by Dr. Charlotte Wildman, Lecturer in Social History from the University of Manchester, who will speak about the lives of women and attitudes towards gay and lesbian relationships in 1950s England.
